saw this on kickstarters. it drew more criticism leh...

Right now, I am using an egg timer for panning. trying to figure out the horizontal motion... haha...

For slider style timelapse, perhaps you can attach the egg timer spindle to a large round cookie jar lid so that it spools a length of string attached to a slider head or a pico dolly. Some youtubers have very good results with rotisserie timer motor as these can make many revolutions per setting

I am thinking that if i were to go trekking to some mountains, the last thing i want is to bring more devices that need charging
