Hi,

I don't know anything about Chinese software but I do know there are 1 or 2 booths at Sim Lim where the person sits there demonstrating writing Chinese on some tablet and it getting entered into the system. You could go and check it out... sorry, couldn't be of more help.

1) what you need is a 'driver' for character input with your wacom tablet. in this case the driver required is double-byte for chinese input.

2) easily solved. challenger and some shops carry CDs of TrueType fonts.

3) driver alone about $30, with software bundling $150-$300.

4) i am using SinoPen InputEasy. it's a software driver to use the wacom pad for character input. if you're using winxp, you don't need software bundling as chinese input is already built into the OS. with this driver, i am able to input chinese character with almost all programs in the system. this limitation is some programs aren't built to cater for double-byte input.

hope this helps.

The entrie package you recommend is about $200! you might as well get everything brand new, for about $180. We bought the new package with a new tablet similar to that at SLS lats year, very good, works with everything including our NLE softwares.

Are the TrueType fonts compatible with publishing software like Macromedia FreeHand, Adobe Illustrator? Used with PC/Windows users.

from my work experience, to input chinese font into freehand is not possible. At least not directly. You can try trying in a word file.. then convert to image and import though... I'm doing that... except I convert to tiff, do a traceline and export as .ai then import into freehand so as to have full control over the fonts..

problem solved.
i went SLS to buy a copy of the software at about 200+.

and it has the fonts i want + handwriting recognition + voice for pronouncation.

can u believe it?now i cant even remember what's the name of the software i bought.:bsmilie:

no problems. as long as the operating system can install the fonts, programs which support double-byte characters will be able to use it.

freehand not sure but a designer i know uses illustrator with pc.

actually, i didn't recommend the whole package but listed that as an option. there are packages with tablet inclusive and some without. prices also different due to the different tablet bundled inside as well.

for myself, i opt for the software driver only since i have wacom tablet. the driver also has readback capabilities so that you can for example highlight a block of text from a website and it reads back to you, in mandarin of course. all this for $30.

there's another version of this software from another company that let's you transform your notebook's input pad into a writing pad. you write the characters on the input pad using your fingertip instead of a wacom or drawing tablet. it costs about the same price as well.
