taken with my new found love -- hasselblad 503cw.. with cf 50/80/150mm lenses.

was on a 2mth backpacking trip from HCM through vietnam, into southern China over the cny earlier this yr. took me long time to do the scan and photoshop.

complete collection is here --

many thanks to a nice friend who offer to educate me how to do photoshop correctly.

excellent photos nothing to nitpick :)

:thumbsup: :thumbsup: I love all the shots! :D

nice :thumbsup:
thanks for sharing.
like the west lake photograph. very serene.
somehow, it felt very touristy when i went there last year.
2 months travel ? that's a distant dream for me :bsmilie:

Hi;

This is a wonderful series. Super photo. :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
How many of 120 films did you bring along? Did you take any digital camera along too?
What is the scanner to scan the 120mm films? Are you using slide or negative?

Hope to hearing from you.

60days.. 20 rolls FP4, 60rolls provia/velvia.. so 1+ roll per day. 1 shot 1 target, no chance for bracket. solid target, maybe do another shot. 120mm very hard to buy in remote china and very ex$.. only managed to buy 4rolls at 60rmb at fenghuang. lucky weather not that great everyday, otherwise, cham si lohh! ;p

I also didnt expect to do so much b&w.. thnka to the interchangeable magazine that carry FP4, and allow me to switch so easily. next ttime i going to bring more b&w liao, cheaper then slides lehh.

FP4 was done by the lab.. all at fotohub. boo si gan to dev b&w at home, 1 dev can only take 1 roll.. fotohub is friendly and efficient and good location.. but sometime the film got stain or stretches.

With my hassy gears, i find it heavy enough liao, OM-4T was left in the guesthouse most of the time. lazy to carry tripod also sometime.

I havent own any digital yet.. may be i would eventually. one good way to do test pic with dslr before MF film, and avoid carry additional handheld meter. E-410 weigh less than 500g, and so compact.. may be a good choice?

epson 4870 scanner, bought 2nd hand 450$.. i improvised the cartridge for MF to make the process more efficient.. else.. hahaaa... wait long long .. 1rolls 12 frame take ~30mins.

hope this helps.. feel free to drop me an email if u have more qn. thanks!

btw, that xihu shot and the oother pic, i added a diffuse glow in photohsop to make it more constrasty and dreamy feel. original pix a little flat.. anyhow test. all taken at 12 noon sharp!

Thanks.

Great photo!! :thumbsup:
I visited Fenghuang on March, stayed there for 1 week only got 1 sunny day :(
btw did you visit 苗寨 around there ?

Good Day to you;

I am glad to hear from you. Yes, I do agree with you on the MF. I had a rollei TLR. The issue is that I need to finish the slide film before I can load the B&W. It is wonderful to own the hasselbald.
I know it is very heavy to travel with the hassy. I can see that your picture is very rich in the color and the composition is different from those that post on the clubsnap.

I know it is very difficult to handle the MF as travel becasue it need a light meter to measure the lighting before taking the photo.
I have capture the photo of the chinese performance during the chinese new year in Raffles City.
I agree that developing the B&W is tough as it is single roll at the time compare with the 135 film which can be do in 2. I love the kodak t-max instead of the iFord film. At one time, I used only the iFord one. Since they stop their business, i change to use the Kodak due to once i develop the iFord film, it give inconsistance result.

I heard that iin China there is a lot of cheap 120mm B&W film and give very good gain result.

I know the difficulties of scanning the film. It take a lot of time and need a powerful computer as it has big MB files.

I must thank you for the effort to show us your photo.

MF is the way to go. Not even the full frame, canon 1Ds can meet the color reproduction and detail.:thumbsup: :thumbsup:

Best regards.
Friends.
