Hi guys, I am currently looking to buy a new DVD player that is cheap and good. Good in the sense that my DVD shows will not get jammed for a while so often.

My current sharp DVD player tends to cause my DVD shows to jammed very often for a while before resuming again. :(

Hope you guys may help me. Thanks:)

BTW, I am using original DVDs.

My Akira DVD player has worked for 2 years I think. Maybe 1 1/2.

Dirt cheap. Plays anything I want it to.

Well, if you can live with the plasticky CD tray.. =D

It outlasted my dad's expensive DVD player set.. Hee hee!

There are lots of cheap DVD players out there but good or not...hard to define leh. You can check at places like Carrefour, Harvey Norman, Courts, etc...

Just now I went to BEST to take a look. One saleman recommended me JVC player saying that it has track adjust capability; able to scan the disc and skip parts that cannot be played, while the other recommended me a Philip player, proclaiming it to be the king of players. I was confused in the end, and therefore decided to buy it some other days.

I am currently using a cheap 'Sharp' DVD player and it works pretty good.

Akira

my Akira can accept CF, SD cards.
can decode Divx also.

really value for $

Hey manz, if you going to Courts Tampines ( I meant the really big one beside IKEA), be sure to check out the marketplace at the ground level. Last time, I wanted to get a DVD player, I chanced upon the same model at the Marketplace, the price difference was about $20! Sure good bargain. I bought Pioneer.

How are pioneer DVD players as compared to Philip DVD players? The salesman said that the lens of DVD players from brands like samsung, LG, sony are very sensitive, and tend to cause the DVD to jam halfway.

That was last Dec, I am not very sure about why I got Pioneer, but then obviously I had compared the specs and pricing across the different brands before decided on it. Specs vary, so you may want to see which one suits you better. There are few players that provide HDMI output, something about high quality sound you may want to check that out. Electronics very hard to say which brand good or bad, sometimes heng suay one. For me, it is about Specs to Price ratio.

bro, I tried many many players as I make my on DVDs.. My advise is, Enzer or Shinco. These 2 brands are cheap+play anything. Shinco espcially, has a error correction capability for bad discs. In China, it is promoted as the King of Players as u get a lot of 'sub' quality DVDs in China. Best of all, u can get them at NTUC for $70!

Trust me.. u wun be disappointed.
