hehe i am still newbie ... i need more pratice first .... :D

slowly .... no i just wana to get a full range of lens first ;p

Just remember, ultimately what area of photography would you like to go full in? Get the lenses that suit you most, not the whole range. I do know a few who complete the range... but... but... ;p.

I second that. I think those who do that may think more about equipment rather than photography. ;)

i like to talk bird and animal picture ma .. that why i wana get a tele zoom lens ;)

No offence ah... I've tried shooting birds & animals before, 200 is really barely reachable nor is the 70/80-200 a decent lens to shoot with. There was a Nikon + NPS Sungei Buloh outing not too long ago, and frankly, even the 300/2.8 wasn't enough. You might think that 70-200 is sufficient, it's not, really.

i was thinking get the 80-200 plus a 2x TC then it will become 400 (digital will be 600 ). still not enought ?

heard that with TC, you will lose 2-3 stops.

Haha.. precisely.. it is so balanced that you dont see it.. hehe.. but you can see the effects of the flash..
Agree! The best effect is not to see the flash over exposing the subject but balance it with the background/ambient light.

There is actual flash as you can see the catch light in the glass on the left (white spot), mirror on the upper left and the specs and in the final picture, the two catch lights in the eyes...

Range is there, quality? These are after all zoom lense, but I guess like I also say myself, contentment starts with your own heart.

Actually it's still at 400 after 2x, only the center is returned as the image after cropping, the FLM is not calculated to give extra distance, but just a guide to how much is lost when cropping.

Btw, the AF-S TCs work with AF-S lenses, unless you're aiming for the AF-S 80-200, otherwise... I don't think the 80-200 will work AF with the AF-S TCs.

With a 1.4x TC you lose half stop, for 2x TC you lose 2 stops.

Nikon currently has no TC's for use with AF lenses.. you would have to get 3rd party TC's.. the TC20Eii is only for AFS - AF-I lenses.. and AFS-VR lenses..

thanks Kevin..

First image.. 2 flash guns about 6 feet away from me.. (yes.. that's me), on P mode, and TTL-Commander mode. Each flash at about 45degrees from me.. and with flash head at 90degress with diffuser dome.

Second image flash is about 2feet from the subject.. both at about 45 degress

Third image same setting.. as 2..
sorry, just wanna kaypoh a bit cos i'm quite interested in using the D70 built-in speedlight as a wireless master trigger. so when you say on TTL Commander Mode, the other SB speedlights are linked via wireless right? not IR? does the built-in speedlight fire?

reason for me asking is that i'm interested to use the D70 to trigger a SB800/600 with TTL, without the built-in flash firing. meaning i can do away with a SC17...

does that make sense?

Yes.. you can get rid of the SC17.. unfortunately you have to let the built in flash fire..

This is how it works.. you will have to use you built in flash.. (the built-in flash doesnt effect exposure).. When you set the Flash Mode to Commander TTL, the internal flash must be in the up position.. it will fire 2 short burst.. that will give the TTL readout from the camera to the remote flashes.. and then it will fire a third burst which will tell the slave flashes to fire.. but is not what triggers the flashes.. the remote flashes are time that they will fire when the shutter opens.. which is a split micro second.

You will have to set the SB800 or SB600 in Remote mode. TTL

Sorry hope u dun mind, slight correction here. 1.4x TC will cause one stop of light loss, not half-stop. Now back to the "Buy Buy BUY" mode. ;p

don't quite get it... does it means the internal flash doesn't contribute to the final flash exposure? or is it still fired together with the remote flash when shutter opens?

It doesnt contribute to the final exposure as far as I can tell.. coz it fires a split second before the remote flashes fire..

that's good! dun need to buy another hw to do it...

That is what makes it such a wonderful tool.. hehe..

The D70 can only use one channel - Channel 3..

The D2H can used all 4 channels, and 3 groups. The groups can be programed individually for TTL, AA or M. Which is awesome.. hehe..
