According to Canon USA's pricing, seems so, amazon selling it for US799, thinking of it the price is a turnoff and pretty ridiculous too

Perhaps as said that it lacks USM. But i think should be bundled with the new 18-135 IS instead, even though also no USM.

How is the ISO quality ?
I very tempted to get 7D since i am now just using 450D.

You can head over to Imaging Resource for sample images taken at various setups and ISOs.

From the sample posted, seems to me the ISO performance is quite good, probably 1-2 stop worse then 5D2, but definitely better then 40D/50D. My hunch is there will be similar rush and backlog will build up pretty quick once the shops here starts to take orders. Unless there is some strong competitor products came up in between (not likely though since Nikon just announced their wash-down 300Ds, and Sony seems pretty confused in their FF & entry launch...), demand will exceed supply for a while, and price is probably stable for at least 5-6 months.

Looking at the predicted price of the EFS 15-85 f3.5/5.6 IS USM of US$499, its gonna be EF-S 17-85mm f4.0/5.6 IS USM killer.
the price of the latter is gonna drop like flies.

I thought the predicted price was 699us or 899us?

Oh sorry, my bad typo.:embrass: its $799US.(base on Canon US website)

That said, Street price would normally be lower than the Canon's pricing we would probably be looking at S$1100(estimate) which is only a couple of hundred dollars higher than the 17-85's pricing.

The new 15-85 is indeed supposed to replace the old 17-85.

Finally the L version of the 100mm macro! how much??

SRP is US$1,049.

My feel is S$1,300-$1,400 range in Singapore.

If its true.... then the price is still quite reasonable.... sadly I already own the 100mm Macro USM.

Looks ok... few hundreds more than the non L one

The question now is whether you need IS so that you will consider whether to buy it or not.

The current macro lens is already so solid for macro work.

Agreed, focal lengths 135mm or less, IS is not mandatory in my opinion

But 100 mm macro lens when mounted on cameras with crop sensors is equivalent to 160 mm. :bsmilie:

IS is never mandatory, but is always welcome. There are situations when it'll come in very handy.
