TX-5, nice land camera with sweep panorama mode and a nifty HDR like night/low light shot mode but no manual controls over aperture and shutter speed.

S90, nice land camera also with a low light mode and f/2.0 lens with manual controls and ability to shoot RAW.

Depends on what features you want. I have the S90 and i've played around with the TX-5. Both are nice but different cameras.

i say s90>tx5.
do note that tx5 has got quite a few features that sony consider as selling points like, shockproof, waterproof, dust proof, freeze proof. however, i dont see it improves your image quality.
as for s90, i think it's a better compact than tx5.
then again, it's my 99cents. :)

Do note that the sensor used by the S90 is a sony produced high sensitivity one that is probably also used in the TX-5. :bsmilie:

Thank you for all the feedback.

Search bad review on S90 tat the battery use up very fast , is it true?

I'm using more in uW, any more review or even bad review, tks

As some bros mentioned, these 2 cameras are really targeted for different audience.

S90 if were to compare with, should be LX3, EX1 or upcoming LX5 as they all uses 1/1.6 or 1/1.7" sensors with fast lenses.

If you keen in UW or Macro, long zooms should be on your list isn't it? However, EX1 seems to be very good at the moment, with sharp and fast F1.8 lens.

But do lookout for Panasonic announcement on 21st July on their LX3 replacement (LX5) which seems to be a mystery as of now of the size of sensor used....it was rumoured recently to use m4/3 ones which is very good but I would assume it should remain as 1/1.6" ones.

the battery will last about 2 dives max? If you're really into macro photography, then probably you should look at the G11 instead. Same sensor, wider zoom range on the lens, closer focus distance in macro mode (1cm compared to 3cm on the S90), neutral density filter feature for those 'black background' shots.

It's a very capable camera for U/w use esp with strobes and add on wet lens (macro/WA) at a pretty reasonable pricing if you use the canon housing.

TX-5 is a CMOS sensor.. s90 is a CCD but is same sensor with G11.. but cmos can do 10fps... ccd cant... =( so both are really 2 diff cams!

If you can take a photo at 1/2000 secs, meaning bottle neck is not at sensor. FPS generally has more to do with camera's buffer memory's bandwidth and size.

Thanks for all ur feedback, I bought my S90 + UW housing today.

Really a great camera.
