The Canon 400D body cost less than $1200!
Recently I was searching for US retailers to order the 5D when I discovered that the 400D silver body can be obtained for less than $1200, inclusive of GST and shipping! Black body seems to cost more.
The price is damn good man even though the US warranty may not be valid in Singapore.

this kind of pricing no need to buy a second hand 300d/350D/10D and maybe even 20D liao. just go buy a new 400D!

IIRC it doesn't. Generally I think it's better if can get someone to bring back for you to avoid the gst. It's now a killer at 7% too

If you can gather enough orders, you can use the GST+shipping price to fly yourself to HK for a free holiday!

the 7% tax only applies from feb next year. so buy the big ticket items while you can!

Whether its low price or high priced goods, the % change in price is still the same.
Let original price be X
With 5% GST = 1.05X
New 7% GST = 1.07X
Price change = 0.02X/1.05X = 0.02/1.05 = 1.9%

But then again, the prices will drop over time and may nullify the GST effect. So this GST hike is most likely to have a greater effect on new products or products with fixed prices without the effect of inflation.

It'll probably stop certain people with tight purses from spending and may very well produce counter productive effects to the economy if this effect becomes pervasive. But life must still go on and so must we continue to shoot and BBB :bsmilie:
