Regarding the lense adapter for canon A40;
What is the difference between a OEM made (silver color) and original canon product (black) ?
Does anyone know the price difference for both ???

There is a differences of thread size.
The OEM ones that Alan Photo sells is 37mm, which means you will miss out on a lot of interesting filters. Also at 37mm, most telephoto lens and wide angle lens will not fit in.

Even if you do able to find 37mm versions, the price is very much higher than a standard 52mm(canon original lens adapter thread size), by at least a good 20% or more.

But the OEM (37mm) lens adapter has a major advantage. It does not block out much of the A40 flash area, as in the case of the original as much as the whole bottom right is blocked if subject is near(1m~2m).

Price wise, the OEM one cost less.

My friend got an OEM 52 mm thread size for A40. It is metal finishing and in silver color. I was wondering either to purchase an original by canon or just purchase the OEM ?
According to my friend, it is now difficult to find orginal lense adapter for A40. So, would like to hear if any problem for the OEM ? Anyone has purchased and know the price ?

If its the 52mm thread.. then i guess the OEM one wouldnt make a difference from the original.

Ok thanks for the infor...
i went CP, was told the original canon lense adapter is out of stock.. find one at a shop near by charge me $60 ..
:dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

do you think the price will be very cheap for OEM making ?
now the original one is selling at 35...

$60 ?? that's day light robbery !

i got the original one in Tokyo for about $28...one of the few rare cheap stuff in japan !

but i have yet to buy any lense...no idea which to get...

+4 HOYA filter is for macro and UV ?

how about wide angle and tele ?? how much are this lense ??

My friend got UV filter (hoya 52mm)
for 10.00 at CP/
No need bargain. probably can be cheaper..

I think i must get an adapter first b4 think of the lense..

the
+ 4 is for macro

to me,
UV is for lense protection , but someone really shows that with UV lense, picture appears more detail under sunlight....

you mean UV and the macro lense is different lense? but A40 with the lense adapter looks so big, so hard to store...isn't it ???

Yes that is true..
sometimes i was too lazy to fix the lense.... for convenience purpose..
probably should ask experts, if all camera share the same problem after added with lenses...
;) ;)
