The tripod collar for 70-300 is $278. Reach on FF for me is enough so it depends on the individual.

but those long lens usually only replace the lower portion to improve rigidity. the cost is under S$200/-

Bro, i'm referring to the whole tripod mount unit, not a plate.

but the long lens tripod collar is built into the body of the lens, dont think it can be remove without dismantling the lens.

can share a link to tripod collar for long lens, i may mistaken for another item.

There are many pics online, u can google yourself. The collar is removable but may not be user-replaceable. But lets say if someone accidentally damages the mount, definitely have to replace.

Bought my collar ring from CP today. Last piece they have. They says they are out of stock already, and a few other auth dealers are also out of stock..

my one I think is really last piece.. last week I go ask ask only, talked to the same guy (as today), saw him digging for one from the usual place they kept accessories stock. say only 1 left. I ask price, say will consider.

Today go back talk to same guy, he say he go check got anot, go dig the same place again then only found the same one I saw last week :bsmilie:

When i first asked, was out of stock and called back around 2 weeks later to ask, was told it's avail and immediately went down to buy.

It's not rare, but just that not many will buy it so they bring in less stocks of it.

Most of them carry 3rd party ones.

just buy a 3rd party tripod ring on ebay.... won't cost you more then $30. that's what i did for my 70-300L, works great.

Looks gd but any strings attached? When i got mine last year, was $1930 from TK.

Cash payment, credit card add 3%. I thought Harvey Norman no such policies, but seems like its a good deal then.

Think they adjusting to compete with the shops above. I also asked 135L, it's $1339, slightly more ex then the shops above. I got a feeling that you can bargain abit more if u take out your wallet, but today not buying mood so never try.
