Canon 7

Hi folks,

I'm interested in trying out the Canon 7 camera, and I've previously owned a Leica IIIf and I have a Leica M39 Summitar.

I just sold my Leica M4-2 to a good man on this forum, and I intend to get a M6 or MP soon. I wonder if the Canon 7 is an interesting camera, should I even bother to try the Canon 7 if I can find a good copy?

I would like to find the legendary 50mm f0.95 Canon TV lens or the 50mm f1.2 Canon LTM. Should I even bother? Should I just get the new Noct when I get the MP ?

Take note that it doesn't not have a built in accessory shoe.

There is one on sale at rff..

this might be a rather redundant comment, but let me just say it... there are adaptors available to mount LTM lenses on the M mounts cameras, so that there is no need to get a Canon7 just so that you mount the LTM Summitar or the Canon "dream" lenses.

I'd suggest you continue going for your M6 or MP, and you can still play with the LTM lenses... the compatibility doesn't work the other way around.

The dream lens by default has to be mounted on the 7 or 7S. If TS wants to try dream lens, getting the canon 7 is the only way, unless he can get hold of the M converted version.

you are absolutely right... but there is an additional option of buying and then sending for m-converstion (but it'll take time and more money). i was erroneously thinking of the "baby dream lens" (f/1.2) when i made that comment :embrass:

Please buy an already converted lens, the conversion process is destructive and not reversible.

the canon rangefinders have very good framelines and viewfinders that zoom in and out for 35/50/85. it is a step up from leica screwmount 2 window (alignment/framing) system. It is a step up to the m3 because it zooms and magnifies the view.
