there is no international warranty for camera bodies....
only local warranty...
if i am not wrong, no countries give international warranty for camera bodies....do sg give international warranty?? :embrass:

well as people mention here, thailand is near us..
so can travel back to repair la if u want to just save that few hundreds bucks...

but on the other hand is worth to get 1Ds mk3 there as it only cost 9k plus
that can save 3k....
but before that, 3 things to make sure:
1)make sure ur credit card got credit limits left
2)then make sure that they have the stocks cause they only have 12pcs at one go and last heard all sold out.
3)ready to travel back because no international warranty

dont go there and in the end got nothing....;p

Yup, Canon has no international warranty for their bodies, only local warranty in the country of purchased. 1Ds MIII price is very good.

May want to consider a grey set from Orient Photo. With the recent drop in 5D prices, there are selling at $32xx. Shop warranty of course, but much safer that buying from BH IMO.

has only utilized the shop warranty for orient photo? how long does it take to repair a 5D?

two things to comment/add:
1. a friend bought a canon 5D form the states, and it comes with international warranty (at extra cost?) for 3 years. I don't think its a Macky warranty.
2. I did see a shop in adelphi, basement, selling a brand new one , presumably grey stock, for $2950.

our local products got warranty on their side..

Never tried it, but some others have commented with mixed results.
