Canon 420EX focus assist modification

but..why just want to have the flash assist? I would very much like to have the 420 flash assist work as well as the flash....

prob. in very low light conditions, the focus is more accurate with the flash's AF beams. but then again, who would want to stick stuff at the bottom just for 2 LEDS popping out to assist. (can use laser pointer too)

interesting...
but will it limit the shutter to the max x-sync e.g. 1/200 sec, since the camera detected the flash, just that it could'nt fire.
or even result in wrong flash exposure?
