canon 350d

Dear elders,

Looking for my first DSLR, and as I am based overseas for the next 1 year, I have found an auction for a canon 350d that is said to be "new" going for SG$400 (after conversion). Is that a good buy, or should I jump straight-away to 400d, 20d or 30d?

Also, i've a found battery grip for the 350d which is not made by Canon. Is it advisable to buy it as well?

beware of scam... for batt grip, it is better to go for a Canon.
