Think can only use minolta mount lens. :dunno:

As long as it is in the same minolta AF mount.

You can use Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, Vivitar, Cosina...etc lenses on it.

do u mean to say that i can use any sigma lens or only specific sigma lens?

Sigma makes lenses for Minolta, Canon, Nikon and their own Sigma cameras.

You need to make sure that its for the same type of camera. Just ask you friend what mount is it for.

Just to addon a bit..

Some older 3rd party lens may not function properly with newer range of camera, like dynax 7 and later (include dynax 5) even though the mounting is the same.

Mount it and try. no harm.

You can buy a adaptor to use it with manual focus M42 lenses.

Correct!!!

FYI, most camera bodies are able to accept different lens mounts so long as there is an adaptor made for that brand of cameras.

For those who want to gd quality glass and not fork out a chunk load of dough. Try looking out for well known Russian lenes. You'll be surprised that some Russian lenses offer excellent optics at a bargain. Most Russian lenses provide excellent optics and are usually built like a tank, but do not expect frills usually associated with Tokina, Tamron or Sigma. No EX coating, Gold Ring trademarks and fanciful finishes. If its great glass you want, its great glass you get. Nothing more, nothing less. Oh, you will not have AF unless the lens is an AF one.

Do some research before making any purchases to ensure that what you plan to get is compatible with your existing system.

Happy Shopping!;)
