wouldn't it be easier/cheaper just to bring down on your check-out dive? since we are bringing it anyway?

IIRC, $30 will get 30 mins at 30m pressure. Not sure of the mkt rates right now...

Ehh.. Check dive may not be a good representation as u do not normally go deep. Also, if given the chance to check equipment while still at 'home' does give u more options if things are not right before trip.

however check dive will allow you to access buttons/levers on the housing which are not accessible when doing a chamber pressure test. Pros and cons here.

There could be tons of reasons that could/would cause flooding, the moment any casing is opened.... hair/sand/salt/O-ring.... etc, just to name a few. Kind of pointless to test the casing/housing on land, pass, no problem for the 1st few dive..... flooded right after I replaced the camera's batteries. :bsmilie:

I think that this kind of testing is more for users of Metal casing/housing which had thinner wall... to test for metal fatigue (much like scuba air tanks after a number of use). But of course... you could test your casing/housing as and when you want it. ;)

For larger housing, can fix a valve and do vacuum test. Not cheap though to fix the valve.
