Camera flashes and flickering lights in video

Hi all,

I encountered two problems recently while shooting with Panasonic GH2.

1. Just a few days ago, I shoot a birthday party using GH2 with settings at 24p, iso auto and shutter speed @1/50. There are other cameras with flashes taking place too. When I view the footage, the camera flashes that appeared in the footage are very different from I normally see.
Any idea what causes this and how to eliminate.

2. I noticed there is flickering light at the light bulb in the video. Again, GH2 with settings at 24p, iso auto and shutter speed @1/50. It does not happen in all the light bulbs. Again, any advice to eliminate.

Many thanks.

Stick to 25fps when shooting in flourescent lighting.

24fps runs at 60Hz clock. Our power lines are running 50Hz, so you see the flicker effects.
This is most prominent in non-tungsten based lights like florescent, HMI & most ballast based lamps.

Adjust your shutter speeds to compensate to a certain extend.
