Do you use the Marker function on the camera to check exposure on faces?

I've heard from a DOP that he uses it to meter faces and that ideally, it should fall somewhere in the 32-36 region. I've tried it and find that it tends to look a bit under exposed and I find myself setting exposure on the face at about 40. Are there situations where one set of values apply better than the other?

Also, when exposing for Caucasian faces, we know that Zebras at 70% is about right for the highlights. On the DVX, Zebras start from 80% so how? Also, is 70% for highlights correct for light-skinned Asian faces?

No, I've never used those functions except zebra for the first few times only..

I've used both camera systems before and I can honestly say, use an external monitor if you want results. =)

Hai there it's right the marker system for face exposure is around 32%-37% facial exposure shld be around tere , if u look underxposed might be ur lcd judgement coz i trust the marker than zebra level for facial exposure and it works fine , if u r really2 unsure than use the old school method zoom into the subject n use auto iris wait for it to stabilize than switch it to manual iris it than u zoom out it works everytime and for every kinda camera!

Zooming in to focus and iris is normally my practice as well..
an external monitor or the LCD helps but remember to check the brightness / contrast adjustment on the mon with colour bar first.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Will take your suggestions on board:D
