Hi, I need some assistance w.r.t C41process B&W film. besides TCN400 are there any other brands available? Any iso slower than 400?

Someone mentioned about konica c41 B&W film, where can I get that?
One other thing, a color lab mentioned to me that i can shoot with normal colour film and when D&P just remark for B&W output and they will strip the colour for a B&W print. How close is this to the C41 B&W film? Thanks in advance.

regards

Hi again,

Has anyone tried the Ilford Super XP2 400 film a C41 process B&W film? I learnt from the sale staff at MSColor that customers prefer the kodak TCN400. Any contrasting views?

I have always stuck to xp2 if I am shooting b&w cn film. I like it very much.

I have tried to scan normal superia 400 and it gives a pretty close output too.

Do you mean scanning and converting to B&W?

yup, scanning as b&w film.

Kodak TCN400 is more contrasty than Ilford XP2 Super. Both are super sharp and have great exposure latitude. I prefer XP2 super for portraits use as it is less contrasty. Most importantly is to print the negatives at a good photo lab, or the contrast and colour casts will be terrible.

Thanks guys for the the input. I'm going out to try the Super XP2 this weekend. However it seems like not very easy to get. Maybe I'll try the colour negative convert to B&W as well. If good enough, then no need to carry two different films.

Thanks again & regards
