Thinking of getting HASSELBLAD 500C/M
What is a good price for buying the products below.
All other advice welcome

Hasselblad 500 C/M Medium Format 6x6 Camera Body
Hasselblad Waist Level Finder with pop up magnifier
Hasselblad Carl Zeiss 80mm F2.8 PLANAR Lens
Hasselblad A12 Film Cassette

Thanks in advance

try ebay. I got the above configuration with a plain prism for about S$1300 with shipping.
but now is not so good a season... prices may be higher. Best time is May to August.

The configuration you've specified is a good starter's kit but really the price will depend on the condition of the equipment. Best is to go down to the shops around Peninsula and see the actual units, test them out. I'd rather pay a little more for a set that is in very good condition than just going for price alone.

I shoot with a 503CXi with CF-T*80mm/2.8 and CF-T*180mm/4, and have another 903SWC with the built-in CF-T*38mm/2.8 Biogon. I'd suggest you get an extra A12 film back.

yes, when buying overseas you have to search carefully... but most were closing in this price range.
I did try the local shops... but when I got it 6 months ago, they were all over s$1.8k ... and the condition was comparable, if not worse.

There are different version of the hassy 500CM. I read something like there four different version from 1974 to 1994. Main differents like the film advance crank(from knob to crank and there different crank as well), tripod mounting point(some have one where there others have two), different focusing hood and even the focusing screen (non Acute Matte to Acute Matte). The later version have more market value and of course are more expensive. The last version is call 500 Classic. That is very costly. There even people try to pass 500C as 500CM. So do your resreach. Here are some different 500c and 500cm http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/companies/nikon/hasselblad/cameras/hasselmodels/models/500.htm

Hey Kelzar.... do you know if there is any specific reason on why May to Aug is best time to buy?

singscott , you are absolutely right. The 500c/m really made hassy's name.

I was shopping for a late 70s or early 80s version, after the introduction of T* lenses ... and the standard issue of a winding crank instead of a knob. And the accumatte screen became standard.

The easiest way IMHO to tell a 500c and early 500cm from a later one is the fact that the screens are not user interchangeable.

summer time ... ;)
more people away on vacation and fewer bidders. Historically proven trend for lower prices... downside is slightly less choice (less listings).

now is the best time to list&sell... end of year mood before the holidays ... and colder weather in the northen hemisphere... more people in front of their computer.

The next window according to my friend, is the week between christmas and new years. Again, many people are away and there are fewer bidders.
