I had tried to do a search on the forum, but cannot search for "B&H", too few letters...

Have any bros here buy lens from B&H. Any issues?
Warranty still cover by Canon Sg... read that in other forums that international warranty for lens still valid in sg

I'm looking at EF 70-200f4L, which include shipping charges is about USD$645, making it less than SGD$1k, pretty attractive I would say.

Can any bros here share their experiences of online purchase?

Well remember to include 7% GST. Savings are not that much, about 100 or so.

u referring to the IS or non IS variant of the 70-200? if IS version then got savings. otherwise, its pretty close to sg pricing. u need to factor in gst as well.

i order from bhphoto and keh and ebay for my stuff. mostly the older out of production items. i have a lens from bh. sent it to canon for serviving before. no issues. just pay.

Of all the 7 lenses I've ever owned, only 2 were bought in Singapore, the rest from B&H, usually during the rebate programme and never had a single problem. Always get good and latest copies, eliminating the need of visiting shops and trying out lenses which I have no patience in. I like the surprise element too though haha - it's great to have a lens arriving at your doorstep after a good home cook dinner. LOL.

But yes, remember to calculate properly, and usually local bank will charge a little higher than those online currency converters, at least from my experience. If online shows USD1 = SGD1.39, I will count it as SGD1.42.

And yes, Canon Singapore honours the International Warranty that comes with all the 'US Sets'.

Paid 1630 for my 70 200 f4 IS in July. Bought it from BH, no issues. But I think the price has gone up a little and the savings are not so substantial now.

if your package's value is above S$400, usually SG custom will charge GST. The forwarder will collect the GST when they deliver they package.

I saved $2.2K on my 200f2 when bought from B&H. hand carry in the lens is the best...cos no GST. Is not worth paying $500plus for GST say you buy a $7K plus lens. So do check if people are going to USA and ship the lens to where they are going outside of the state where B&H is. Cos if you buy the lens at the B&H shop, you will be subjected to tax of that state as well. Shipping to other state in USA is free and no tax.

That's a lot of savings... or are the prices in Singapore a little over.

Not many ppl would want to go usa nowadays. :)

Bought a lens from B&H in december.. no problems at all..

Like the others said, you have to factor in the 7% GST for any items above SGD$400.

My lens was delivered by UPS, paid the GST $$ to the delivery guy...

meaning i paid through credit card online to purchase, and pay cash for GST upon delivery?

and GST is calculated based on purchase price or purchase price + shipping?

GST levy is for total cost = purchase price + shipping costs.

Canon SG will honor the USA warranty just that if i remember correctly, if the USA warranty is 1 year then the SG warranty is 6 months.

I heard of this but not the case for me. I sent 2 of my lenses previously to CSC a week or two before it reaches its 1 year mark with me.

I am guessing they see whats the problem first and then call you if got any charges for any repairs if needed.

The 6month warranty applies only to Canon point and shoot cameras. This is called "Half Year Tourist Warranty". You can find out more from this link in Canon HK warranty page HERE. The lenses and flashes has a full 12-month warranty (states in clause 17.3).

Under clause 17.5, Canon requires the buyer to exchange the Canon HK one year warranty card to a six month warranty in the country the person is from.
