i also have a crumpler, another good bag

but in more muted colours

thanks for providing me with the reasons to get one. let me scope out the price and post it here.

i am definitely younger than u but crumpler is very kiddish to me. ppl say billingham look like women handbag.

wa, then all billingham owners become kuniang ah? :bsmilie::bsmilie:

A good tradeoff IMHO would be to get the more subdued black version of the Crumpler shoulder bags, that will give you the stealth of a Crumpler, without the loud colours.

Uhm, but if I saw a sixtysomething year old uncle carrying a Crumpler, I would still do a double take (and probably take a photo of the sight).

:sweatsm: cannot la crumpler... for the youngsters and the young at heart liao :bsmilie:

abit. :sweatsm::sweatsm:

join the gang. either billingham or domke.

today went to the exhibition and saw KATA bags.

tried it, wow, not bad. the padding looks and feel good. the design of the bag is abit too cyber for me, though. :bsmilie:

me too. but my friend bought 2 last week. hardcore. i think i will go for domke although the savings of getting billingham quite substantial.

u can't go wrong with billingham or domke. good choice.

Sorry folks not sure if you guys can advice, I'm looking around for a new bag to replace my Crumpler 7 Million Dollar Home. I don't want something bigger but somthing more compact. The width is just nice, at about 20cm. Basically its to fit a D200 w/grip attached with a 18-200VR and enough space for a SB600.

Think of something like the Domke J-3 (700-J3B) or the Billingham PressTop 206, just not sure if all that can fit. Home to get some advice from owners out there.

i am not really sure how long is the 18-200 VR, i am assuming it is quite short, just for comparison sake, i can fit a 30D+Grip with 17-40L in the centre portion (after taking out the removable centre divider) of my F3x, that leaves some space for more lens. the J3 IIRC, is similarly sized, perhaps slightly bigger. fyi, i can also squeeze my 580EX in the side pockets, your SB600 will do fine. :)

OT: for those who are thinking CP's pricing for Domke is overpriced, getting them online via ebay is slightly cheaper (with shipping included!)

my understanding that domke bags are not that padded... true?

:dunno:

they are padded but not as thick as the ones on Lowepro / Crumpler (which makes the bag really boxy feeling)

Domke bags 'mould' to your body and compresses nicely if you dont have a fully loaded bag
maybe want to go down to CP take a look for yourself? :)

Top Press series of Billingham has carbon fiber. Using the Hadley Small for outings, and the 206 and 335 to store my lenses and accessories.

The Domke J3 will do nicely for the brother looking to put the body with 18-200 and a SB600 (with space to spare).

I'm looking at the F3 as a small bag for body with 1/2 lens(es) and a flash.

the F3 is a super Under rated bag. based on my own experience, there is really alot you can fit inside it (if you arrange them well)
the heaviest i tried?
main compartment: 30D+Grip+17-40L (attached), + 50 1.4 and 85 1.8 (stacked) + 135L (barely fitting inside the divider slot) + GF LS II
side pocket: 580EX (1 side) + a small story book
small compartment near buckle area: 2 CPLs + blower + lens pen
