Beware of Black Sheep

I was in a recent discussion with a good friend of mine who's a serious photo enthusiast and he gave me great advice when looking through the classifieds of ClubSnap forum. Although everyone selling/trading may seem sincere and honest about their equipment - some may even go to the extent of giving personal warranties - however, he cautioned me based on bad experiences he had.

Example:
He bought a lens from this other CSer. The seller have personal warranty of 7 days money back if equipment is faulty. After the 4th day of usage, my friend found black oil dripping out from the lens. The seller evaded his calls repeatedly, leaving my friend looking like a sucker.

Although pleas and warnings may go unheeded, who's to say that there will continue to be black sheep among us? I thought that perhaps those of us who've had pleasant trades with fellow CSers may wish to highlight the CS username of the person so that everyone who sells/trades will do so with honest caution and consideration. Naive it may seem, I'm willing to start the ball rolling... (of course, if you've got bad experiences, black list the bugger in another thread. This one is for the "white sheep" only)

Please state user name of seller/trader and reason why you give him your thumbs up. You may even rate your trading experience with him/her.

He was punctual, quick to respond to my requests on PM and SMS alike. Even though someone last minute quoted him a reserve price which was marginally higher than mine, he declared the equipment was reserved already. High integrity, honest opinions about the problems he had with the product. Although quite a quiet fella... I wanted to chat a little longer with him. He made it seem it was all business only, friend-making another day... On the whole.. it was great!

Maybe the admins can start to have this system in place so that each user receives feedback and is displayed right under their usernames?

I'd say BigBelly and Eastgear rocks the best, fast 1-1 exchange, cheap prices and they are always responsive and responsible.

Btw, I hope this list won't be used to take advantage of the better sellers. I believe that in CS, there are a lot more sincere sellers/buyers and matured ones, as compared to HWZ's Garage corner.

Back to the subject, i think that highlighting "white sheep" is a far better idea than posting about "black sheep" (or blacklisting shops)..at least the "white sheep" will continue to "keep it up" to maintain his/her integrity, so chances are, the "white sheep" may continue to improve. A good idea.

yah... i think we're straying from the topic with all the praise of Tommy Gui.

ok, here are a few people i've dealt with (both buying and selling) who i'll deal with again with no qualms (off the top of my head - this is by no means exhaustive):- NV Rao, EastGear, the 4 heavenly kings (Darren, Simon, Edmund, Jason), tomshen, klsss, Avatar, bar8cuda, sebsong, d7t3, kh_drew... and just last night, Caspere.

there are more of course, so don't be offended if your name not there. my memory is just not what it used to be (or ever was hahaha).
