Question to all the RF gurus (as I'm new to RF). Been more of an observer on this forum for a while and decided to try get an RF.
I saw a Bessa R witha V-Lander 50 1.4, both in very mint condition for $800.
Any idea what is the price of such a lens by itself?
Question is, should I get the R. There have been many mixed reviews on it, and many recommend getting the R2 instead. Although there were many who gave it an very good ratings.
Any advise much appreciated.

Hi. I'm relatively new to photography using a RF and chose an R2 over the R.
If you're looking for information regarding the Bessa, a good place to start
would be Stephen's site www.cameraquest.com.

Check out the recently released R3 also while you're at the site too...

Hope this helps

I forgot to add that I chose the R2 over the R because of the M-Mount (for R2) instead of screw mount (for R). Then again, there are many reasons
for buying and shooting with a RF. I suppose the screw mount bodies and lenses give a more classic feel to the experience which is as strong a reason as any other for buying the R.

:-)

Happy hunting..

Thanks. Found an R with a 50mm 1.5 Nokton in mint condition and bought 2 days back for $800. Very satisfied with it. Been trying to test with a roll of film but raining last 2 days :(
Now need to get either the 15 or 12 mm.

Congratulation! Goldwing,
Personally I like the perspective of 15mm very much. I prefer it to 12mm which seems too wide for me.

Got a 15mm 2 weeks ago and have taken some great shots with it.

With an M mount body you can use screw mount lenses via an adapter. That's another reason to get an M mount body.
