Argh, didn't see this thread until now. Just bought NP400 battery from Eastgear for $34.95 - which is more expensive than for any other cams. It claimed to be 1800maH, but actually turned out to be around 1500maH according to my Maha charger. At this price it is better to go for the Sony original batt.

Yeah, what charger u use so power one? Can tell u the capacity rating?? I also want to buy this type...

Err... the EG batteries I bought are only 170 mAh... I bought them some time last year or may be this year from TK Foto in Shaw Towers...

The Maha charger that I'm using is the MH-C777Plus-II - universal charger and analyzer.
It has a LCD display that measures the charging or discharging in milliamp-Hour.

I'm hoping the battery's capacity will get a little better after cycling through a few times. Even so, I think the 1800maH rating on EG's battery is overated and deceitful. :dunno:

Where can u get such a device from? I see such on the net but I don't think I have seen one in the shops... how much?

The Maha battery charger is being sold by Eastgear at Penisular Plaza. This model is quite expensive and if I remember correctly it was around $150.

Trust me, u will need more if u shoot and review a lot... I can run down one pair within 4 hours of lots of shooting... and if u use the onboard flash... die much much much faster...

actually after A lvls, i might want to try going down to slt and find the dry cell which NP400 uses. hopefully there will be some with like 9999mAh:bsmilie:. one long charge, one battery, one long shoot.

Yeah... and tendency to explode while in use. Packing too much lithium into too little space is a recipe for disaster.

QX :bsmilie:

hmm.....or maybe can find those new capacitors. heard that they can charge in a few seconds yet discharge like a normal battery. but i think those are expensive, and not sure if slt sells them yet.

i'm back! after all the shooting, i am still using my 2nd pair of batteries. the first pair haven charge yet. didnt use much flash during the shoot. the 1st pair drained out faster during the cold weather when i was up on the mountain. in total i took about 600++shots during the whole trip
