Spare battery and memory card? MS1 is good if u want dynamic moves, slider is good if u want delicate moves

A mic/audio recorder is recommended if u want good sound

A video tripod will help get you good pan/tilt shots

But to operate well, I suggest u practise in SG before overseas

Armed with a sense of adventure and vision about the story you want to tell, at the most basic, camera + lens is all you need. Unless you know specifically what you want to do/achieve, I wouldn't advise going into additional equipment yet. Until you've done a few pieces (could be practice runs), and know what you need to support your image making.

For me, starting with the equipment approach, I sometimes end up getting too focused on the equipment than the story. E.g. Need to use it to justify buying it and carrying it all the way, so end up using it for the sake of it, not because it serves the shot. Of course, it might work for you. Some ppl get inspired with new gear and use it to push themselves to experiment. You know yourself best.

Just from my own exp, generally with each new equipment added, there's a physical and mental 'burden' to having it, so when ppl ask me, I would recommend starting as lean as possible then slowly explore adding on as and when the need arises. Start simple. Some of my own fav and memorable shots are really the ones captured solely with camera + lens. I have ever lugged around a slider+tripod for an entire day and not used it for a single shot. Was so irritated at myself by the end of the day :bsmilie:

Anything that gets the job done. Have alot of batteries, memory cards, and travel light.

i have a EPL-7, i bought myself 2 extra batteries and a 32gb SD card. sadly, EPL-7 has no mic-in port and will need to buy an external adapter which is not cheap.

im using it as a secondary cam, mainly using my gopro as the main videoing cam. but i must say epl-7 quality pretty good for 1080p recording

Olympus shooters beware. Currently only 2 Olympus models offer 25fps/50fps PAL mode. The first is OMD-EM5 mark 2 and the second is OMD-EM1 mark2. When filming in 30/60fps, check that your shutter speed doesn't create flicker and banding under flourescent and LED lighting.

in short, olympus cams are not recommended for videography

If you are in Japan, USA and other NTSC countries, 30/60fps is totally fine. It's only recently that Olympus decided to include 25/50p for their higher end models. Hopefully, we will be able to see implementation of 25/50p in more of Olympus future releases.
