bargain tamron prices at Comex??

hi guys, seems like Tamron is having some offer for their lenses. I'm quite new to this, and so will appreciate the advice of the more lao jiaos here.

Take a look at the following prices. Are they good? I was thinking of trading in my kit lens for a wide-angle lens maybe. Any recommendations? Should I skip this offer and then just wait for an MO, or should i do the trade-in since the prices are good and even better than an MO? Your advice is appreciated!! thanks.

I am using Canon, looking at the price, there is some discount.
I believe you are using Canon too, since alot of people are letting go of their Canon.

Sigma wide angle going to cost you $870.
Tokina has another wide angle lens.
Overall, if you wants a overall wide angle, suggest you go for Sigma.
It performed best in the roundup in Popular Photography magazine.


The Tamron does not have the range I am looking at.
(17-70, or 18-85 stuffs like that) 11-18 wide, I might as well go
for Sigma 10-20mm, no trade in needed.

The prices at Comex are definitely not good.

If you're considering the wide angle, the SP AF11-18mm F/4.5-5.6 Di-II LD Aspherical (IF), which is going for $1010 before trade in and $860 after trade-in.

If you look at the Tamron price guide here, someone was quoted $830 before, no trade-in needed.

thanks guys!!! appreciate it... At least i know i wont be wasting any of my time (or money, or kit lens) going down to change for a tamron at these kinds of prices....
