Bali. Indonesia's most popular holiday destination. Bali's natural attractions include miles of sandy beaches ), picturesque rice terraces, towering active volcanoes over 3,000 meters, high, fast flowing rivers, deep ravines, pristine crater lakes, sacred caves, and lush tropical forests full of exotic wildlife. I visited the wonderful island last weekend and would like to share some pictures with you guys.

01 Horsepower

While walking towards the famous Kuta beach, I came across this horse carriage. Decked in nice headgear, the carriage offers a slower way to explore Kuta beach, much like our trishaws.

Quiet Contemplation

Spotted this lone figure on the crowded Kuta beach.

Kopi Luwak

Kopi Luwak is coffee that's taken from the beans that has been eaten and digested by the civet cat. Apparently, the civet cat eats the best beans and passes them out whole. A cup of kopi luwak in SG costs somewhere around $30 - $50. High price to pay for a cup of coffee! In Bali it only costs 30000 rp which is around $4. I love coffee so I just had to try it.

Odalan

I was lucky enough to witness a Balinese tradition while I was there. The Odalan or temple procession, happens every 210 days. According to my driver, on this special day, the Balinese people dress up in their Sunday best and pray and give offerings to their god.

Kecak Dance

The Kecak dance is perhaps the most dramatic performance that Bali has to offer. Taken from the Hindu epic Ramayana, the dance tells the story of Prince Rama and his rescue of Princess Sita, who has been kidnapped by the evil King of Lanka. Unlike other dances, there is no gamelan orchestra accompanying it. Instead, a troupe of over 150 bare-chested men serve as the chorus, making a wondrous cacophany of synchronized "chak-achak-achak" clicking sounds while swaying their bodies and waving their hands. While waiting for the show to start, I managed to get backstage for some shots of the performers.

Thanks bro! You've travelled more with the rangefinder than me! haha. Nonetheless, I'll still try to share my views on the rangefinder. I'll write something up and post it when I'm done bro. =)
