Hello All,

I would like to know where I could get and what price it would cost for a backpack camera bag (meaning a camera bag that you can put on your back and will not hurt your back).

I would like to put in the following equipment:

1) Nikon F4 body
2) Nikon F801 body
3) one telephoto lens
4) one normal lens
5) a few rolls of film
6) my vest
7) a couple of extension tubes

Thank you for helping me on this one.

Cheers!

actually i think camera backpack can be rather leh-cheh to use.
u need to stop, lay down the bag flat on a support or ground, and unzip to take out the lens. its not like the sling bag where u could take things out or put back on the move. a backpack with top or compartmarmental openings should help, but i doubt tamrac or lowepro have this type of design. think domkey has one, but is too overprice.

i have a tamrac expedition 3backpack, which i seldom use it...but i think wont fit to your requirement

I need it to actually carry stuff around, when i am shooting then it is most often empty.

Tenba backpacks have a quickacces opening at the top. http://www.tenba.com/camera/backpack3.htm

Any comments on the preferable brand? Tenba or lowepro or any others?

I prefer lowepro... prices would be great if you could tell me how much they cost approximately. Thanks

Thanks, I will probably do that!

as a guide, Lowepro bags are around 50% off the listed price (price tag in the shop). Lowepro accessories/small pouches are about 40% off the listed prices.

hmmm... what does that exactly mean?

Rapidmax,

Based on your equipment list, I'd suggest Lowepro Mini-Trekker, about $120 from Cathay Photo.

Photo backpacks are not as slow as people would believe ... I could unsling the backpack, put it on the ground, unzip the flap, and whip out my camera in about 3-5 seconds. If you need faster access then you should have the camera ready in your hands :) ...

The backpack is better for me than a shoulder bag because of the weight distribution.

I have had the following in my Mini-Trekker before :
1. F80 with 80-200 f/2.8 mounted
2. F70D with 170-500 mounted
3. 28-105
4. Kenko Pro 300 2X teleconverter

So I think you'll do fine with this bag ... any larger and the weight of the bag becomes a factor.
