Availability of 3rd party lenses in 2nd hand shops

Newbie question:

I'm looking for a 2nd hand Sigma 28-70mm zoom but after visiting TCW and the shop beside CP in Peninsula, it seems that most of the lenses displayed are Nikkors, Canons, etc. but very little of the 3rd party ones.

Is the lens that I want easily available at these shops? Reason I asked is that I went down last Sunday but both outlets were closed.

Also, what's the expected price for such a lens? Shall I not pay more than $100 for it?

Sorry... forgot to add that the Sigma 28-70mm zoom lens that I'm looking for is the cheapo f/3.5-4.5 one and not the constant f/2.8 version.

you gotta come on weekdays (10-7pm) or Sat (10-6pm)
Sundays they are closed.

You can look into thru the glass to see the lens up on sale. if not, you can check with the shop owners. Maybe u can leave your contact numbers behind for them to get back to you if they have the equipment for sale.

Sometimes, if you post a "WTB" want to buy in the Buy/Sell for a lens like that, you may get a reply.

I suggest you give it a try first, since buying from the seller in Buy/Sell is cheaper than getting it from a 2nd hand shop, since they buy from the seller, then price it higher for a profit.


I have seen 3rd party lens like Tamrons on sale at 2nd shops too, I believe it was at Alex Photo (Peninsular level 2).

I am sure TCW has them too. Can visit them on Saturdays to check with them.

Hi, since we're on the topic of 2nd hand stuff ... does TCW have pentax bodies for sale? =) Anyone know if the new Pentax DSLR is out yet? Reason I wanna get Pentax is cos I've got quite a few lenses already and difficult to change lah .. =)
