70 hours of work for $400 without meals provided?

$400 per day or $400 for 7 days?

That's barely $5.71429 / hr! It's really low for the person to know how to use Photoshop, use studio lights, collect orders, be a labourer. If you add in transport time/cost over the days, and no food or transport cover.

Good luck to whoever working for him.

how long have u all in singapore? dun u know that singapore is slave driven? long hour, small pay

1. I'm not looking for a professional photographer's assistant. Just someone available and interested in learning a bit and making a bit of money.

2. Like I said, job scope is not stressful.
(a) There's not a lot of equipment. The asst only helps me with unloading on the 1st day. And loading on the last day. That's it. In-between, the equipment is left at the booth. I carry the laptop and cameras home. Trolley is provided also. The asst won't even sweat.
(b) Computer work is minimal. All the asst have to do is press a button to process images from C1 Pro. Open it in Photoshop. Adjust curves and saturation. Press another few keys to print it on a Canon Selphy printer. You don't even need to do touchup.
(c) I will set up the lights. The asst HELPS. He/she is not doing everything alone. He/she just needs to have some basic knowledge of operating lights and not be one who's seeing these lights for the first time.
(d) A form will be created to take extra orders from customers. The asst just uses a pen and writes down the order. It's not slavery.

3. Most of the time the asst won't be doing much. I will be the one shooting and talking to the customer and selecting and printing pics. The asst stands-by. It's only when I get too busy then the asst has to come in and help.

4. The place is air-conditioned. There's a place for the asst to sit. There may be free time for the asst to walk around in the shopping centre. If you've ever worked as a professional photographer's asst before, u'd know these are luxuries.

5. I understand food is not cheap in town. Say you spend a lot, say $30 on food and transport per day, that's $180 for the whole week. You DO still get money to take home. Not a pro-photographer's asst rate I'll admit, but the job scope far from a pro-photographer asst's as well.

6. This is not the first shoot that I've had. Someone has assisted me before and if you are interested but need clarification on the job scope, feel free to tell me so and I'll have you check with him.

A low rate doesn't always mean it's slavery. It could just mean that the requirements are not high.

If you're not bothered to find out the details first, please also don't be so quick to add your destructive comments and complaints, be it here or any other thread.

If the job specs don't suit you, if you're not interested in it and/or have disagreements with any of it, just go away and refrain from posting.

Don't just see $ vs. hours of work and jump at the opportunity to slam and complain. It reflects badly on yourself. Exercise some self-control. If you disagree, it's really not that difficult to click the Back button on your browser.

Whilst you didn't reply to my query, I now surmise from your reaction that it is S$400 for 7 days.

Cheers.

upz for my bro Pk!

for those who think they are beyond this work at the rate he's offering, please kindly stay away.

i've helped him out in a previous event, and you get paid to sit there and watch pretty girls. press a few buttons here and there.

sure beats staying home watching TV...

plus he's a really nice guy to work with. its a good experience for people want to have a basic idea of studio shots and posing models.

Up for TS.

His goodwill on giving chance for people new to this industry to learn something and gain exposure while paying $400 too.

Well, it all depend on supply and demand... someone might willing to do without getting any money..

Thanks Stereobox, antacid, and dominator for your kind words and support. :)
