These two medium format lenses seems to me are one same lens but marketed from different companies. Any idea to shed some light?

Thank you.

ARAX is a rebranded Kiev, almost the same thing actually, only different is ARAX upgrades all types of Kiev cameras, lenses and accessories produced in ARSENAL factory, Kiev, Ukraine, Europe.

You can read more at AraxFoto

Some empirical research on the web also yield Arax lens is of slight superiority than Arat. The latter is for Hartblei which looks exactly like its predecessor.

Thank you for your input.

Anyone here using the Arax 80mm F2.8? Interesting lens and wonder how it performs.

Can help please? Thanks! :)

Obtained the Arax 80mm (same as Arsat), and also Volna 80mm. Not much difference from the CZJ Biometa.

Anyone still shooting Pentacon Six? :)

Still shooting with Pentacon Six + Volna =)

Saw this recently about some light leak problems with the Arsat/Volna lenses:
http://www.pentaconsix.com/StandardLenses.htm

Haven't seen this problem on my pentacon - though I think might've seen light leaks on my dslr while using it with an adapter.

I'm still using Pentacon Six. Love the gear so much, especially the Sonnar 180 2.8. Should we found a Pentacon Six Group as I've seen a lot of CSers still using it :D

I've read abt Arax from photo.net, it was claimed sturdy and reliable :D Not much info abt the lens :D I'm using all CJZ except for the Arsat 30mm fisheye :D

Nice to hear there are Pentacon Six users. Pentaxon Six group will be a very good idea.

As amateur photographers the P6 system provides the greatest return.
And I always believe a photographer should own or use a pure German bread optics.
Going thru Flicker albums on web and also on BimBim's the pictures speak for themselves.
The CZJ 180, 80 and 50 will be covering all aspects. The results are not that far off from Zeiss T* which cost much more.
The Arsat lenses 150mm, 80mm and also 45mm are nice also.
