It might have been better, though, if you had stepped further back and zoomed in, to reduce the barrelling effect. Or, you could correct that with Photoshop.

It's commonly termed "barrel distortion" and usually occurs at wide-angle. The picture will seem to be bending outwards, forming the shape of a barrel.
Standing back and zooming in will result in more telephoto than wide-angle effect and will to a certain extent reduce the barrel distortion.
