kind of curious. I realised nowadays moderators happy happy close of threads. I feel this is kind of rude, akin to asking everyone in the thread to shut up.

I meant he above thread is not very imflamatory, nobody is argueing, people are just making comments at two cameras.

Why is the thread closed? Do CS guildlines disallow such comparison? If CS does not allow such comparison, you have to make it clear in the guidelines I feel.

mostly the comparisons will lead to alot of pride and flaming might (I used might) happen
sometimes we have to accept the fact that deterrance is better than punishment
in this case, the feelings of shutting down of a thread pales in comparison to the negative and sometimes murderous feelings we feel for our friends who supports "the other side"
what is the shutting down of some threads? Let's get on with the more important things in life
let's go shoot =)

wind30,

first of all, mods do not "happy happy close threads" which implies that they close threads for fun and amusement. certain threads are closed for the general good of the community and to avoid potential flame wars.

for the thread in question, while your posting was done objectively, some provocative and potentially inflammatory postings/comments have been made by other members, such as "brand/camera A thrashes brand/camera B", "brand/camera A is 99.99% perfection", "where in the world was Brand A ALL THESE YEARS?", "brand A's professional camera specs was a complete joke". it's just another flame war waiting to happen.

please note that CS guidelines state very clearly;
"We will not tolerate anyone antagonising other forum members by posting potentially inflammatory messages...." .

CS welcomes objective discussion of equipment, but the mods also have a responsibility to see that discussions are carried out peacefully by anticipating potential problems before they arise or get out of hand.

cheers,
z.

You have been a long time member of CS and you are one of last few I will expect such a "complain"

Are you insensitive or have you missed on all the previous "brands war" flame war threads happening for the last few years? Since when such discussions were "healthy" in nature and lead to a happy ending or conclusion? Whats considered rude about closing of thread when the TS is not aware of the IMPACT of such threads to CS?

We have been constantly reminding members not to do that. Do we really need to set a guideline for such common sense thing? If long time members like you are so confused about such common sense things, I will consider putting a special set of guideline for folks like you who need special guidance.

Thread is closed.
