looking for transparent colorless cellophane in rolls..

had searched art friend at bugis... popular bookshop etc.. dont have  they only have the pre-packed folded sheets.. i'm looking for the whole roll

Popular has it ah... transparent plastic wrap... for books. Not sure if it's cellophane though. Perhaps you could state what you wanna use it for?

Have you tried the artfriend at IOI and Taka yet? Or maybe can see Artmark at Bras Basah complex :D

for research use.. particularly for drying poly-acrylamide gels
i can buy the ones from cole palmer or biorad, but they earn like 1000% on such simple things..

i walked the whole bras brasah already.. artfriend only has the folded sheet version

I think logistics companies use them to wrap bulky items on back of lorries to prevent rain damage. You might wanna ask someone who works for a logistics co.

have you try those shops sell plastic bags and packaging materials? like SKP or shops at Victoria Street Wholesale Center?

Do you need specifically cellophane? Or just any plastic sheet can already? SDS-PAGE ah? Need to use cellophane meh? Haha! I don't remember all those stuff already... those were back in poly days... =P

Not sure if those are cellophane... more like Saran wrap... aka food wrap, cling wrap... Those are sticky so it could be abit troublesome to use.

Agree with catchlights on this, perhaps SKP? Or there're 3 party shops around Bugis area... along Middle Rd, same building as the This Fashion that is diagonally across the National Library. If you need specifically cellophane, I'm not sure if it's gonna be an easy search...

yup page gels. specifically cellophane, cuz its porous, so the gel can dry uniformly into a thin film. other plastics wont work

i only remember in primary sch its 40 cents per roll of cellophane.. :X

I don't know what cellophane you want? If it's for food, then SKP may have it. If shrink warp (logistic coy used) in roll form, then hardware shop have it. Another type of plastic sheet that ppl use for protection which is self adhesive. Hope that help...

Maybe you try Redman. They sell a lot of bakery stuff....

Perhaps those sold by biotech companies have stricter requirements? As in, they have more even pores distribution/size or whatever? Is this for like, FYP or something? Or like, is it a research grant that you need to skimp on? Don't think it's wise to waste all your DNA extraction, all those enzymes and chemicals, not to mention time and effort... haha! Not you pay also right? ;p

If still need cellophane, I dunno... did you ask the staff at Art Friend? Or the Bras Basah Popular? Tried Sagacity? They're not at Bras Basah anymore though... moved to somewhere quite ulu... can't remember where.

When I was in poly, the school supplied all the gels we needed... didn't need to think about cost. Haha!

heh :P nope those sold by biotech companies are similar to that of the normal cellophane. i actually bought the folded type and tried and it works the same. i'm in the midst of a phd right now. on one hand i know my supervisor wouldnt disagree to me ordering what i want from companies etc, but sometimes, as a singaporean i feel i should be more prudent with tax payer's moneys etc. i mean if a big roll of cellophane costs $20 max, versus the sheet type that is a few hundred dollars.. i am thinking twice :P
