Hi, saw on PHOTOi that minolta is revealing 2 new film SLR cameras. Dynax 40 and 60..... does anyone know if they are available in stores? and how much?

I think the dynax 5 is still much better value for money.

ooo so roughly how much is dynax 5?....

Body plus 2 lens is 600++, body alone should be 400+ maybe? I started off with the D5, never regretted it. not many bodies at that price gives functions like DOF preview or spot metering for eg.

Quote from Cathay Photo for Dynax 5 with 28-80 len @ S$510 as on 28th February 2004.

MS Color was having this promotion where Dynax 5 with two lens, bag, tripod and some other freebies at $649.

2nd hand Dynax 5 on the other hand would be much cheaper. :D

oic... ya looking for a new camera to replace my old 3xi. Looking at a few maxxum and dynax models... budget is ard $300. for this budget, issit better to look for a second hand one?....

I really doubt that you could get a brand new higher end dynax model at that budget. Maybe you should really consider a second hand one. Besides, the resale market for Minolta SLR is quite bad, so bound to get a good deal one... who knows? Maybe someone willing to give up his/her Dynax 7 at that budget?? :dunno:

Do go through this comparison if you are really interested to know the differences between the newer and older models of Dynax.

oic.. thanx.. i rememeber i went to mustafa, the minolta cameras there are cheap... i think i saw maxxum 4/5 at $300++.........

I suggest you save up more and get dynax 7 if you're really interested in pursuing photography. else you'll find yourself in the same situation 1 or 2 yrs down the road, wanting to upgrade? else just get a 2nd hand D5 or D60 or something, also quite good.

Agreed. With budget of $300, see if you can get a 2nd hand Dynax 5 plus the 2 kit lens, may be need to top up a bit and that will do! Although, best if you can get a Dynax 7, Dynax 5 is more than adequate.

Cheers!

2nd hand Dynax 7 will cost you around S$800 liao... if you can find, try 700si or 800si, both good cameras

Is the $300+ pricing for Dynax 3/4 kit, or is it for Dynax 5 body only?

Be sure to watch the price of Dynax 7 drop like crazy when the Dynax7 DLSR comes out! :D Think by then there might be people who would like to get rid of their Dynax 7, just to find space to acquire the brand new DSLR! :bsmilie:

That's not true. See how aggressive Canon and Nikon are pushing for their DSLRs, yet their pro models' price don't drop. For pro models like F100, F5, D7, D9, their prices don't drop significantly. They either hover around that price, or they just get phased out. Rather, its the lower end models whose price will fluctuate more and get phased out at a faster rate than the pro models.
