I bought this adapter for my nex 3. I intend to mount a ring flash and wireless trigger a youngnuo YN-560 EX II for bounce. The ringflash yet to arrive but the phottix strato tx/rx and 2 Yongnuo arrived.

For fill-in or bounce flash in slave-mode triggered by the Sony HVL-7S works but for most shooting the HVL-7S is adequate. But I like to use my CZ 16-80mm on LA-EA2 on the NEX-3. Fill flash with the small
HVL-7S cast the lens shadow in my image. So tried the YN-560 mounted on the NEX3 but in M mode the AF is totally unusable.

I managed to get AF in the same setup only in Scene mode Night shoot. Not that great since both Aperture and Shutter is beyond my control but by angle the YN-560 at 45deg at 1/128 power, it works.

I may need a NEX-5N or NEX 6 to make my setup to work.

I got this together with the cowboy studio wireless transmitter and trigger last week. The combo worked the 1st day I tried on my nex5r.
Today tried again , cant make it work.
Tried with the flash directly on the MSA-10 also.. still doesnt fire.. wonder what's the problem.
Probably need to meet up with someone who has another msa-10 and try on my camera.. see if its the camera problem or the msa-10..

Got another one from Alan Photo , and it works. Think I spoilt my old one by mounting an old manual flash on it..

There is not voltage matching curcuit in the adapter. Hence, the older flashes may have fried it. lucky it did not fry your cam...

i needed some advices on replacing the original sony flash with other 3-party flashes. I've ordered the JJC MSA-10 but what flash would you recommend to mount it on the hot-shoe adapter (i understand there might be weight issues not to break the connector). or use as wireless trigger but any additional plate needed??

i intend to setup my NEX-5r for macro photography.

please advice.
