But not discounting the fact that I will go back to Minolta, *ahem* or Sony, 1 day if Sony did not tinker with the metering, keeping what Minolta had always - the best metering.

Actually let the manufacturer go and fight for which system is better.. for us, we just enjoy the new features / lens or which ever camera that we feel good using..
The more players in the DSLR, the more choices the photographers have..

If I intend to get the 70-200 SSM, I may consider switching. Mainly because for the price of USD2500, I can almost get another body and lense (either VR or IS 70-200 f2.8) from either Nikon or Canon.
