Any photographers hiring assistant?

Hi, I'm waiting for my enlistment in somewhere around July I guess, not so sure about the date yet. I'll be graduating from Republic Poly in a few days time and would like to work with a photographer as his assitant but have no idea of how or where to start searching from.

Any advices for that?
