Hmm.. i know this is obvious, but nothing seems to be in focus here. Did you AF on it? Maybe try to focus manually?

as a matter of fact, i did manual focus on it. off-focus was both due to my carelessness and also partly intentional.

but i can't try anymore of these till i get a tripod.
