I think it's a bit expensive on these 2 lens at this moment and so, I started seaching ebay for alternate buy..

Here are some options:

28-85mm f3.5-4.5 - build like the "famous" 28-135mm f4-4.5 lens.. with a useless macro option at the 28mm
Cheap.. and this lens is very very new..

24-50mm f4 lens..
good rating.. cheap.. at KEH and this link..

or 20-35mm f3.5-4.5
Surprisingly, it's more expensive than 17-35mm f2.8..
good rating as well.. KEH and link below..

As for myself, just purchased a Tokina 20-35mm f3.5-4.5.. cheap cheap.
Should be good enough for event photography with flash.. ;)

I don't know why, don't really like the kit lens color and exposure.. a bit unpredictable and always under exposed.

Good luck...

Not sure of your budget...but some of the lens you are looking at in ebay, with shipment will be in the the region of SG$250 ~ $350+.

In that range you can look at CS B&S ....KM 24-85 f3.5-4.5 and for a little more the Toki 28-70 ATX Pro f2.6~2.8 to complement your Toki.

I have both good and bad experience buying off ebay. What's your ebay experience so far ? :)

What is most important to me is min focus distance. Ever since I tried my hand on a 28-75mm F2.8, which provided by DCA, I can feel the different how important as compare to my current lens. Current lens min focus abt 80cm, quite a distance and if I am out of space, I need to think of other way. So, next time when abt to get a 2nd hand lens, must see the min focus before buying else a bit lugi ;p

80cm minimal shooting distance is less than 1 meter, you in a cubicle shooting what ? :bsmilie:
