Yup. More shooters means we have a higher chance of discovering new things which one or two of us cannot... Despite Singapore's small size, there are still surprises in store each time we go out and shoot. :)

Hey Sgt! Where've you been these days? Haven't seen your butt shots in a long time after your Plain Tiger shots.

I've been very busy for past 2 weeks. I'm already happy just to see the guys Butt's photo. :p

It's a pity I'll be busy next Saturday morning till around 11ish, if not can join up again and shoot. Really had a good day man Papilio, the whole of AH belonged to us, muahaha... :bsmilie: Remember to return soon for the Common Birdwings.

When I got home last night, noticed so many new posts from Saturday morning outings. The macro forum is really growing fast.

Papilio, you'd got to stop taking pics and work on that book! :)

anyway I learned something new today, that the Cycas revoluta is also known as the Sago Palm. Good thing you supplied the scientific name else I would have the impression that the Cycad Blue hosts on the other sago palm Metroxylon sagu from which we get those sago "seeds".

Beautiful pics as usual  nothing more to be said there ;p

Hi Choy! Long time no see/chat. Yes, I know. Procrastinating as usual. I have an official "nudger" to carry on with the book - Ria Tan. She's like my manager, and I've at least reached a stage where we can discuss the contents and the details. Will get you to come along to one of our evening meetings after work. It's always a riot and rather enjoyable. (Very little work done though... :embrass: )

The Sago Palm is more accurately referred to as Sago Cycad. However, somehow the common name of Sago Palm is more often used by landscaping designers and gardening contractors. Go to any plant nursery in Singapore and ask for Sago Palm, and you'll get this plant. Real expensive though. ;p

Hey, yah don't mind coming along to see how the publishing process works :) always something new to learn

sago cycad, yeah, that sounds much better. if you ask me for a sago palm you'd get a palm tree 20ft tall :D there is/was a stand near the main SBG entrance, don't know what they have done with it with all the renovation going on. Always insist on scientific names :p

OT here, but most of the Cycads have been relocated to the new Evolution Garden (currently behind the metal hoardings near the NParks HQ). That place will be opened to the public soon, featuring the evolution of plants through the ages. Cycads are actually ancient plants.

As you enter the SBG Visitor Centre, past the main building, you will notice a pair of Cycas rumphii on the left and right (one near the Nature's Niche Bookshop). There are often Cycad Blues flying around both trees, if anyone of the butt shooters is too lazy to walk too far. :)
