Need some advice here..

My gf stay in a room which is along the corridor, and many times over the last few years there are people peeping in and see, some poke the hand through the window grills and draw the curtain aside, others just poke as close as possible to catch a glimpse. After i put a cloth to cover as much as possible, unless you are 1.9m in order to peep through.

Today we encounter the most outstanding one. Someone along the corridor just sneaked right up and hold his sony ericsson HP above the cloth to shoot video/photo of the room. This's the first time we saw such 'high-tech' case. Tried to chase the psycho but he fled off, can't even see the clothing.

Now we are brainstorming what can we do to avoid such case. The following are some ideas we have thought of:

- use blind instead of curtain (but we realized the flaps can easily shift between one another in a vertical manner)
- put potted plants along the corridor (but will this help?)
- use CCTV (but clarity is quite lousy in low-light condition)
- install aircon so that window can be shut off (but gf's sis got sensitive nose, so cannot sleep in aircon room)

Feel free to let us know what some of you can suggest or is using now.

Thanks!

...Use translucent film on the windows.

Privacy unless they like to film or photograph silhouettes.

And it blocks out the sunlight too, and you never need curtains again, and you'll still have light in your room. Only minus point is that you will not get a good view of outside. But er, curtains also do that anyways!

One thing to add: No aircon in the room cos my gf's sis got sensitive nose, so window must be open to ventilate... jialak right.. :(

switch the room with her parent....

Make a police report..so police will patrol more frequently...even have to go up to the corridor to patrol... make them work a little more...safety is priority...

Chicken wire secured with wire ties? That'll put a barrier between the window grille and the curtains. Till they get desperate enough to bring along a wire cutter, that's your only solution.

I'd love to have a jet lighter handy for those protruding hands though.

Actually my gf's place also near woodlands... marsiling rise.. about the same as yours.. haha.. what do you think of the efficiency of the police here?

there are those pattern laminates which you can use to over the window panes. they diffuses the light but is not see thro. Coupled w a curtain that draws beyond the edge of the windows, it should prevent any peeping tom from having a free lunch.

If no report made...police will do nothing unless they came accross the incident...make a report so that they can take action should these pervert/s were caught..if no report made how to know if they are efficient or not right? so far the police presence at my place is ok...but not good enough as my car has been scratched few times and small mirrors i put on both my side mirrors got stolen...but i make no report....yet...doing my own ambush!!! :bsmilie:

if u stay along corridors...its not only about privacy being breached thats a concern...its ventilation...u can keep the windows close but u'll feel warm inside...u still need to open ur window a little some how right? BTW,i'm staying on groundfloor...worst right???

The window panes already have pattern laminate. But those psycho are brave enough to slide the window panes slightly to peep inside, pull the curtain upwards to see what's in the entire room. Tell me are they insane or too desperate?

standby a can of insecticide, anyone peeping, juz grab and spray....they go blind their business. kekekeke

coincidentally i stay marsiling too, but near the mosque, first time i heard use hp to film....damn despo siah the perv. :P

yah exactly... Last time one of the person who peeped even put his hand in his pants (and do don't know what) along the corridor. thankfully my gf's bro saw and he shouted, but the perv ran away..

I'm thinking of alot of super cruel ways to torture the guy's hand or face if i see it appear at the window, but all kenna rejected by gf cos it's too gross. hahaha...

Take an old disposable camera wire the capacitor to the window grill and wait for the next guy to stick his hand through the grill. He will get the shock of his life literally. Keep the charging circuit so you can recharge the capacitor if it happens to get discharged.

Don't worry you won't kill him, you'll just make him think twice about sticking his hand through the grills again.

for goodness sake, u are just trying to protect her....wat if this perv gets too daring? Will that be too late oredi?

It's not gross...its her safety, would it be gross to her if some perv was actually self-stimulating outside her window while trying to terrorize her?

common sense leh...

It is a natural tedency for people to peep thru the windows along side walk. Thats something that no one can stop.

However, hearing from your account, that chap should get punished going to such extent to peep.

Maybe can fix a camera at the top of window pointing outside. For low light, get those with infra red capabilities (those with little transparant bulbs all round). Go sim lim 2nd/3rd floor. There are plenty of shops selling these stuffs. I believe the entire setup would be quite affordable without hdd or cctv to link to. Maybe can link to existing television in the room.

Also, cover up the top portion of veil with a vented mesh.

Do not think of setting up traps that will hurt as it may end up hurting the wrong folk. Imagine if it was her mom trying to call her from the window only to find her hand being torched by flame.

Inform the neighbours on that floor and ask them help keep on lookout. If it was a neighbour doing it, the message will be quite clear to that man that he is being watched.

Going to police may be waste of time. They will just fill in a form for her. Random petrols won't really help much as there are 24hrs to stirke.

I live at a corridor unit too. I put up a cloth that covers half the window. Meaning unless u take a ladder or u jump, you cant look into the house.

However no offence but is your gf a babe or does she wear quite scantily around the estate? Frankly it is human nature to look into the house but to the extent of taking photos, putting hand in to pull curtain aside? That sounds more like an individual or a group of individuals trying to prev at your gf and I can guarantee it is the same person all this time.. Maybe it is time you thought about why is your gf attracting this kind of attention.

Install a partition between the window and the rest of the room.

Install a partition between the window and the rest of the room.

That is the only idea that seems to work. Or put a mobile panel there. No choice if you must open the window leh.

Make a 3/4 window length cloth to cover the lower part, then add a curtain skirt for the top portion..the curtain skirt should be slightly more than 1/4 length..make the railing for the curtain skirt further away from the window to allow more light into the room..
