Okay I have no idea how to embed videos. Someone help me out?

I'm sure Mal wouldn't mind any honest comments, criticisms (Especially criticisms *cough*) and other suggestions. Shot with a DVX100B. Enjoy!

SYNOPSIS:

Brinsley, a down and out artist needs to impress his fiance's father when he comes over. He also needs to impress Muthappar, the world's richest man and world renown art collector with his sculptures. In order to do so, he borrows his neighbour, Harold's furniture. However, things get sticky when there is a blackout, and Harold makes an early return from his trip, and his eccentric neighbour Miss Furnival makes a surprise appearance. A hilarious tale of how the dark brings out the truth.

Nope, don't mind any criticisms at all.

Wohooo! :D something without guns.

to be honest, i didn't watch the entire trailer. gave up after 55secs because of the audio.

your dialog and accompanying music fighting for attention.

Everyone i've shown it to seems to be saying that...The camera audio was bad so i redubbed every single line of dialogue, and i'm positive the levels are fine on my computer. Weird. Ah well, i'll have to watch out for audio issues next time. I was more concerned about the cinematography though

No comments on the trailer itself?

David like the plot, David like the idea. Need more of these sort of stuff.

David hijack malcolm's thread.
i've got a couple who wants a bigass trailer spoof of several movies, starwars. mr and mrs smith. mission impossible 3. infernal affairs.
anyone wanna join in this production? (shoot in june)

OK, you asked for it! :)

Actually I enjoyed it a lot. I think the first half is very well done visually, with good timing between cuts. The sound is not so well balanced though, and the girl's voice sounds forced and unnatural.

In the second half it's not quite so good, (beginning with a rapid zoom in that doesn't quite hit the target). The choice of lighting makes everything a bit dull, (minor point). The main problem is that I don't know what's going on, and it's not very clear who all these people are, saying "Brinsley" over and over. If you watch it a few times you can start to understand it better, but I thought as a trailer it would be more effective if it's a bit more obvious on first viewing.

Malcolm, I'm not trying to put you down at all, because I admire what you are doing. Just giving my opinion (as requested) and hoping to be constructive about it.

Richard

Thanks for the comment. Your comments are exactly the same as what I feel about it - i'm extremely happy with the first half of the trailer, but after the blackout it kinda goes to hell. Don't need to apologize ;)

Hi malcom,

I really liked what you had in the start of this trailer, it had some emotion, and grand plans when you panned out your cinematography. It kind of reminds me of something i did years back, take a look, i'm sure you'll see the resemblance. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnNnql-mX4s)

Keep up the good work, but if there is any advice i can give you it would be this:

1# always stick to the point of the story, never forget it.
2# even in darkness, there is light.
3# get good talents, even if you have to pay.
4# choose your music wisely, but you already know that. : )

I reckon I agree with what you said with regards to improvements Malcolm can adopt but I doubt he had a choice over the talent (Or lack thereof) in the film because it was meant to be a trailer promoting a school play.

Anyway, you have a nice film there. It kept me captivated for the full 6 minutes. Hmm I still remember that year's Fly By Nite. I think the group that spoofed Kung Fu Hustle won the overall prize. Meh. It didn't even have anything related to do with the !@*$^ whatever symbol.

tell me about it, but whats past is past, no sense in bringing up old material and complaining.

This trailer could be made better when you are focus on one sell point ... USP of your product (film), not so much story telling as trailer's function is to get tune-in.

I find a couple of unnesscessary distracting visual effects in the front part ... if it is not helping to sell ... avoid distraction.

Overall a good very low budget attempt.

Personally i felt that the vignette, flicker and splotches helped sell the mood at the start of the film as i wanted it to seem gritty since the guy was poor, etc. Maybe i could have cc'd and upped the grain instead? I was looking to emulate the super8mm look for the beginning
