I may be biting the bullet... haha, I'm a portrait photographer, so crop factor doesn't help... so I've been waiting for a full frame.

What does having FF got to do with portraiture photography. ....... unless you always shoot in the dark :bsmilie:

If you want the details, I would suggest you go for a Medium format cam.

IMHO, the only advantage of having a bigger sensor is the noise control ...... and satisfying the craving for a Sony FF:)

Full frame sensor does help in portrait shot, if the intention is to get better bokeh. As the photographer will need to stand closer to the subject, and thus the same lens with the same apperture will have a narrower DOF when compare to APS-C size sensor.

So how wide do you want to shoot? ... the key word here is "portraiture"........Is a 16mm on APS-C wide enough or would you prefer to use a fisheye?:bsmilie:

What ZCF means is that with a full frame, u have to stand nearer to the subject to get the same framing as in APS-C using the same lens (e.g. 50mm).

As a result, the lens has to focus nearer resulting in a more blurred bokeh in the background.

Sorry for what? I understood you in the first place but do not share your views. Anyway, please let us know what you think about FF after you have the A900 :)

tell us what u think then.

I guess the key reason why so many of the guys here are hard-up for FF is because of the Bokeh you think you can get with a FF sensor....... How to tell you the difference in "quality" of bokeh when my experience of Sony is only through the use of value for money lenses? You should try it using your CZ lenses to decide for yourself. I am sure that you have your share of the CZ lenses. CZ

An image cropped to the same field of view will more or less give you the same "amount" of Bokeh whether it be a FF or APS-C sensor, all other things being equal....

It is true that a FF sensor will give you better noise control and rendition of tones but much still depends on the image processing of the camera. Same sensor on the A700 and D300.... you have seen the results for yourself.

I want my ultra wide angle back... that's no. one....
