A850 and A900 FW coming soon?

Finally some update with regards to the a850/900 firmware. Probably they pushed the Bionz processor over the limit perhaps?

(SR5) Firmware update for Sony Alpha cameras delayed again (because of unexpected issues)

As you know we months ago we told you that Sony was working on a new firmware update for current Sony Alpha cameras. We expect the firmware to improove the ISO-performance (The same improovement we have with the new Image Data Converter).

Months ago we received rumors (from known reliable sources) that the firmware should be released in March. Than we learned that they delayed the release until May. And now the same sources (and I repeat they are very reliable!) sent me an email saying that the release has been postponed again. All I can tell you is that “…many alphas were wrecked after loading FW 2.0Beta…“. And we have to wait for Sony to fix the problem.

Hmmm... Its been such a long wait many of us A850/900 users have already found ways to overcome the poor jpeg conversion such as raw with noise ninja or LR3.

If the improvement is just the jpeg conversion, not much point. But if its adding more features such as adding more customization to the available buttons. Then that would be great!

This thread seem to have died. So are we going to see a new firmware for a850/a900?

Highly doubt so. Seemed like they bricked so many test sets until they stopped trying.

Dont think it will happen my friend... but what is the problem with the current FW?

I just added A850 as a backup body... they both seems to work very well...

I just wished that they will improve on the low light performance. Currently at ISO800 there is already major flaw with the pictures taken. I have used a D700 before and currently a850 is nothing close in term of low light performance

What's wrong?? I've frequently used up till ISO3200 and the output is still good for web and prints.

Do you use noise reduction? Out of the camera, the noise is there at high iso

If you print it, you can't see the noise... otherwise use the agorabasta setting... you can do a keyword search on this forum... it came from a user on Dpreview forums...
