And a reply from a person claimed to have relative working for Sony:

The A800 rumor is wrong
I have a relative who has inside info - sorry, can’t disecose more:
Sony plans the following cameras in long term; it wants to have 10 models:
130 with HD video, only LCD, no EVF 14 MP 2010
260 with HD video 14 MP 2010
360 with HD video !4 MP 2010
400 with HD video 18 MP 2010
500 with HD video 14 MP 2009
550 with HD video 18 MP 2009
730 with HD video 18 MP 2010
800 FF with HD video 24 MP 2010
930 FF with HD video 30 MP 2011
1000 FF with HD video 30 MP - will combine video and photo function as has never been done before - revolutionary camera 2011

Well, I heard that there will be no replacement for A700 this year .. dunno how true..

I think it's no choice since technology convergence and demand is for it.

Dedicated video cams also all have still photos capability now right? And they also try to boast their megapixels and features broadly nowadays...and how about a 12MP phone from Samsung...are you able to find a phone without camera nowadays as well?

Technologies have already reached a stage where all possibility is available on the hardware itself, just tweaking them and updating the software will bring out new features...

i still think its camera hp is crap. why are they putting cameras into phones but not phones into a cameras when the technology of a higher megapixel cameras is there when a 0.3mp camera hp is introduced. it is only a matter of putting the small phone board integrating it into the board of the compact camera, and it is still small overall.

i wan a phone feature in my dslr too:bsmilie:

Well, the mass is interested in mobility looking at phone usage and like occasionally to take a snap. It's not that the mass is interested in a DSLR system and needs to be reachable at the exact point where they press the shutter button.

Products are not designed for you and I, we are merely drifters, shouting in the desert.

I am not sure, I think nobody is....but looking at the model numbering, with the MP counts and knowing the typical Sony's product numbering, it's actually quite realistic...

It is? I think it takes only a little bit more intelligence then a monkey to come up with a list like that .. Harry Redknapp would have said that even his wife would have buried it, if you know what I mean ..

nothing can be true only when they make official announcement..however..we will be waiting eagerly..

Too good to be true?

there isnt a A800 announced. lol

There's nothing announced .. except that the A700 is officially 'end of production'.
Aside, new models appear in pop-up menu's but nothing happens so far. The 500/550 are present for a couple of months but Sony keeps quit.

Strangely enough when the new recent 200/300 series started appearing, the egg was out within a couple of weeks ..

Sony, difficult to follow sometimes, they are, like.no.other .. :bsmilie:

Anyway, I gave up on the speculation. I'm settled for now camera and lens wise. Anything that comes, I just wait and see.

Well, when they do eventually release officially, it will be a torrent of new models all at once! Then, we'd all have headaches deciding which to get...
But I know, I'm for the 850... & possibly get back a 900 for keepsake.
