Huh? The 58 flash is already too big IMO... I used to think that the 56 was too large and heavy... now that I have both, I think the 58 is the unwieldy one...

True story:

Nong, nong ago, I shoot wedding with Alpha100. I was DESPERATE to get the Ownuser batt grip, which I finally did thru mail order from a guy in M'sia. Bolted it on, mounted a 5600HSD with Lightsphere, next day go shoot ROM. The father of the bride saw my camera and said "Wah, your camera so big! You must be very good!" Tell his relatives summore, and in the end, everybody smiling left right and centre.

I almost bought a Hammerhead from Nissin once... was tempted with the Metz version though... fortunately it was too expensive...

If you use the Sanyo Eneloops, it's the batteries that get really hot too. That adds to the heat in the flash.

But it's one of the batteries that goes the distance. 1 set of eneloop lasted me for almost 1 day @ SIN.

Yeah I usually bounce with a Lightsphere... the flash goes off at 100% power... I took like 50+ shots at one go at Fullerton Hotel (portrait) some months back... didn't touch the flash but it seemed ok...

For mine the overheating sign comes up after around 10mins of shooting in bounce mode @ most probably 1/1 throughout the shoot (inside a club). From what I observe best is to have the flash's yellow light come up before you do another shot.

Squeezing in another shot in between recharge probably is overloading the flash unit & batt.
