A Quickie to Bali

Hi all, just sharing some shots from a quick trip to Bali. We spent 1 day each in Tulamben and Seraya. Some in our group went earlier to Puri Jati and Secret Bay and enjoyed it immensely. The 2 days diving was very rewarding, but we decided to leave Tulamben out of future trips - suffering the same fate as Crystal Bay and Manta Point at Nusa Penida. We did a total of 6 dives of minimum 80 minutes each, even when we went down to 30m to search for the pygmy seahorse.

Most of the dives were fairly shallow, and lots of creatures at Seraya made it simply delightful. We dived with Aquamarine which had super service and much better than the other operators we previously dived with. No silly 18m max depth restrictions for divers with the appropriate certifications! The local guides Janri and Mitra were eagle-eyed could spot the most crazy things.

Anyway, NPNT, so here are the pics!

#1 I see you (that's what happens when you use a 100mm macro and find a large octopus)

I think antacid implied that the slate board (used for writing) was used and not a box.

TS, some great shots! Did you see the big old barracuda at tulamben?

Hahaha.... most likely. But still, kind of troublesome to bring one along.... unless also using it as a U/W writting surface of some sort...

Usually have a slate with pencil in my bcd. Yep, it's something extra to carry, but since it's tucked inside, it's not noticable. (Sometimes hand signals just don't work out...)

nope, didn't bring a whole studio set-up there...although that was a great series of photos, i'm uncomfortable with the idea of handling the creatures. that said, i wasn't very happy when i saw it on the slate, but i noted that there was still lots of sand on the slate - implying he just sort of lifted the nudi out from below. much better than plucking and pulling it out!

and yes, that huge barracude was still at liberty wreck. vis wasn't fantastic, and felt a little disappointed with the site. guess we won't be going to tulamben anytime soon!

Any Manta or 'early' Mola ?? :bsmilie:

Wow.... not scare bad krama for saying such thing :bsmilie::bsmilie:

it was the size of an eraser tip..maybe 5mm to 1cm across? i had to stick my face into it before i could see what it actually was. i have no idea how the guide managed to spot it!

hloc> its ok...i dont dive in places where there are mantas often. hehe

It's ok. there're many teeny froggies at seraya. nearly landed on one last time. :bsmilie:

btw the crabbie looks like a juve boxcrab, the kind you find buried in sand in manado/lembeh.

:thumbsup: love the nudi eggs!..and of course the tiny frog fish!
