Hi all, just got myself a HF10. Shot a 1 hour video on its XP+ setting (12 FPS, 1440x1080). In Recorded a total of 70 clips of 5+G. All stored into the HF10 internal memory.
When I downloaded into my Mac for editing (not sure if its after editing or before), the total clips size became almost 17G of datas. I'm using iMovie to edit. Anyone knows why is this happening? its taking a toll from my HD space. Thank you for any inputs in advance.

Are you saying that Capture into your Mac OS HD?

SD and HDV capture size is 1hr 13GB. Not sure how your cam work. (12 FPS, 1440x1080) shouldn't be 25FPS PAL or 24FPS NTSC? :dunno:

Wat i mean is, the setting for the camera was 12FPS, size is 1440x1080. After recording, then download into my Mac HDD. Comparing the size in the cam internal memory and the ones downloaded into the HDD, the HDD is so much bigger (17Gb) as compared to the in-cam flash rom (5Gb). Hope I've made myself clear. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Sounds like the capture processing is converting to a different codec for editing, that's why the size is bigger. You can probably change a setting to avoid this. But seriously, shooting at 12fps is pointless, you should throw it away and start again using 25fps setting.

oooopppssss.....just realized a mistake. I actually shot at 30FPS instead of 12FPS. The 12 is actually 12mb/s. Got it mistaken. By the way, there's a 60i FPS in my camcorder. Wat does it mean? Hows does it compare to the 30FPS and 24FPS? Thank you.

Hi Gabriel.

I believe the HF10 has 16GB of internal memory. You have probably used all of the 16GB of memory before downloading to your Mac. That's why you have almost 16GB of video footage on your hard disk.

If you're not sure, you can try to record more video with your HF10 and see how much time left before your camcorder is full. If you cannot record any more footage or have very little recording time left, then you have maxed out your internal memory.

Hmmm...not true leh. Before i start recording, i cleared all my internal memory. The footage I shot only takes up 5G from my internal memory. Also the video recording remaining time coincides with the amount of memory space left.
